and I saw star like light
only it wasn’t light
it was darkness of the worst kind
the kind that seeps and consumes.
This illusion is so surreal
believing darkness to be light
and feigning naivety
I never gave it much thought,
till I saw it with my own two eyes.
The sun was ochre,
illuminating the sky.
I stood astounded,
I had missed so many,
failed to witness beauty so ordinary.
Mildred said. Demanded. Who she gave this order to was a mystery even to herself. Perhaps, it was meant for life, or her swimming thoughts. Whatever the case Mildred could not get what she wanted. And she watched from the sidelines as her life and thoughts spun out of control.
